Symbol Grounding
When humans look at a photograph and recognize the subject, they unconsciously "connect it to real-world meanings" (= grounding) - horses are living creatures and stripes are patterns. However, AI sees both horses and stripes as "simple symbols" (= symbols), and is not good at thinking about cross-pollination. While humans can associate "adding stripes to a horse makes it a zebra," this is an extremely difficult problem for AI, and it can only be solved with an approach that is completely different from human thought processes.
